The Crown Struggling To Find Hollywood Actor To Play Prince Andrew
According to Page Six, The Crown is struggling to find someone to play Prince Andrew. As many royal fans know by now, he might be Queen Elizabeth’s favorite son, but he’s also someone who has made a lot of controversial headlines in the past because of his associated with disgraced but also dead financier Jeffrey Epstein. Virginia Roberts Giuffre has claimed that she was forced to sleep with Prince Andrew when she was just a teen.
According to the Sun, Left Bank Pictures posted an ad on the casting website Spotlight for what the producers are calling a “very good role,” but unfortunately, no one wants to take it. The ad calls for someone to play Prince Andrew in his mid-30s for The Crown Season 5, which is expected to begin filming in July.
“Prince Andrew is one of the most unpopular members of the royal family and wannabe stars aren’t exactly queuing up to play him,” a casting source told the outlet.
“It’s not the sexiest role and is unlikely to set a Hollywood career alight,” the source added. “However, it might work for a real scene-stealer character artist.”
British Royal News: No One Wants To Take The Role
With that said, the production team has denied that they are having trouble finding an actor to play Fergie’s husband.
“There is absolutely no struggle to cast any role for season 5 of ‘The Crown’ and it is normal practice for productions to advertise in Spotlight,” a spokeswoman for the show told the Sun.
