Emotional Impact Of Pandemic
The Good Doctor season 4 spoilers reveal that the first part of the season had the medical staff dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though it was a heavy emotional, as well as physical toll, they had to keep going. Lives were at stake. When the winter premiere airs, the global health crisis will have stabilized, but not all the doctors can say the same thing about their mental health.
Ignoring The Emotional Trauma
Lim will be struggling emotionally, but she doesn’t want to focus on that. She tries to ignore her emotions and the trauma by focusing on “business as usual.” For Lim, that means keeping busy at work and she considers being in surgery her “safe place.” In the first part of the episode, she will tell herself that she’s exhausted and has a lot to deal with, but everyone else is going through the same thing. She tries to convince herself that she’s holding it together. But the truth is she’s crumbling.
The actress told TV Line, “The first part of this episode is her just feeling like, ‘Look, I’m tired, I’m overrun, but everybody is. I have a lot on my plate, but everybody does. Every hospital, head of hospital and chief of surgery, everybody is feeling this. I am not unique, I am not special, I am holding it together.’ And then she slowly starts to… well, she just can’t do that.”
The Good Doctor Season 4 Spoilers: Something Is Off
One person who notices that something is very off with Lim is Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas). However, Lim tries to play it off and keep things professional. That might work for a while, but when it comes to the emotions, they will always find a way to come out. If you don’t give yourself that breathing room and allow yourself to feel them, the pressure will build until you explode. And being in a medical environment, that could have dangerous and even deadly consequences.
Will Audrey Lim Fall Apart?
Even though The Good Doctor is a scripted drama, it does focus on real-world problems. We hear stories all the time of doctors, nurses and other medical staff that are exhausted, overrun and emotionally drained from the pandemic. So, it’s only natural that we would see this pandemic side effect shown on-screen. However, will Lim stop just for a second and deal with her emotional trauma? Or will it come out at the worst possible time? She isn’t a robot and she’s not glue that keeps everything together. She’s a human being and this episode will show that. The Good Doctor winter premiere airs on January 11, 2021.
