Days of Our Lives Deidre Hall Reflects On Marlena’s Dramatic Rooftop ‘Death’
Days of Our Lives took fans through a journey as the new year began and Marlena faded away in John’s arms after reliving their life together.
Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Jarlena Memories Pull At The Heartstrings
Longtime DAYS fans couldn’t get enough of that special night John Black (Drake Hogestyn) arranged for his beloved Doc, Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) as she was about to succumb to the deadly virus that had already claimed Kate Roberts Brady’s (Lauren Koslow) life and Kayla Brady Johnson’s (Mary Beth Evans) life.
John took Marlena up to the rooftop where they watched a slideshow and films of their life projected onto a building for all of Salem — and viewers — to see. Then, Marlena died in John’s arms. Or at least that is what we are all supposed to think.
We do not expect Marlena, Kate, and Kayla to stay dead as we already see them in some weird in-between that is not quite heaven, not quite hell, and not quite purgatory. This week, they are going to realize this is all the devil’s trick as his right-hand man, Nick Fallon (Blake Berris), reveals himself, and the ladies now have to fight Satan again. At least this is one of Marlena’s specialties.
Deidre Hall Has Another Fantastical Story
Deidre Hall loved the experience of filming the scenes on the rooftop, as it felt like a location shoot with green screen technology.
“When you see the depth of the scene and the background, you have a real sense that we went on location, which in fact, we did,” Hall explained in the February 13, 2023, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “We went to a separate studio to be in a green screen surround. It was fascinating for all of us to see how that looks. We’d done green screen on the show on occasion. I’m not unfamiliar with it. But, to have gone into a professional green studio — it was thrilling.”
Hall also loved shooting the heaven scenes where she got to spend time with Mary Beth Evans and Lauren Koslow, saying that they had a great time laughing, talking, and just hanging out.
“We might have done lines in there somewhere, but mostly, we played,” Hall said.
This week, we get to see the results of all that playing. Stream new episodes of Days of Our Lives weekdays on Peacock starting at 6 AM EST.
