Stefan has wanted to stay away from Gabi. Stefan knew that Gabi wants him to come back to her. Stefan had believed that he wanted to be with Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin). Stefan knew that Gabi was engaged to Li. Gabi wanted Stefan to come to her wedding but Stefan decided that he would to go Miami, Florida with Chloe. Stefan and Chloe were shocked that Gabi was able to find them in Miami.

Gabi had come to Miami to tell Stefan the truth about Li. Gabi had remembered that Li had wanted Dr. Rolf to brainwash Stefan. Li had wanted to keep Stefan and Gabi apart. Li wanted Stefan to push Gabi away and want to be with Chloe. Stefan has been trying to figure out his feelings for Gabi. Stefan knows that Gabi wants him to go to Dr. Rolf and get deprogrammed. Stefan is trying to make a decision about getting help from Dr. Rolf in order to find out his true feelings for Gabi.

Stefan knows that he is angry with Li. Stefan wants to find a way to hold Li accountable for his problems with Gabi and Chloe. Stefan knows that he wants to be with Chloe but he has started to feel sympathy for Gabi. Stefan does not like that Li has manipulated his feelings for Chloe and Gabi. Stefan knows that Li had wanted to hold onto his relationship with Gabi.

Li had wanted to get Stefan out of the way in order to keep Gabi in his life. Stefan found out that Li had wanted to kill him. Dr. Rolf had been taking care of Stefan because he had nearly died. Li had found Stefan in his hospital bed. Stefan had been on life support and Li had thought that he would pull the plug on Stefan.

Li was prevented from killing Stefan. Li decided that he would work with Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) to help her with her efforts to keep Chloe from being with Brady Black (Eric Martsolf). Kristen wanted Chloe to be with Stefan in order for her to be with Brady. Li believed that he and Kristen would be able to get what they wanted by having Dr. Rolf brainwash Stefan. Li wanted to get Gabi to forgive him for manipulating Stefan but Gabi has told Li that she does not want anything to do with him. Stefan knows that Gabi is angry with Li. Stefan may want to get Gabi to help him to go after Li.
