Chanel knows that Johnny would want to help her to deal with her problems. Chanel had hoped that she would be able to keep a damaging secret from coming to light. Chanel had gotten involved with Dr. Nathan Bedford (no actor’s name known for this retrospective role) when she was in his class at college. Chanel knew that Nathan was a married to Martha Peterson Bedford (no actor’s name known for this retrospective role). Chanel did not intend on causing trouble between Martha and Nathan. Martha found out that Nathan and Chanel were having an affair.

Martha confronted Chanel which led to Chanel accidently killing her. Chanel needed help to deal with her legal issues. Chanel got the help that she needed from her mother Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) to cover up Martha’s death. Paulina did not know that Martha’s daughter Sloan Peterson (Jessica Serfaty) would find out the truth and be able to get Chanel arrested for killing Martha. Chanel has been concerned about the way that her legal issues will affect her and the ones that she loves.

Chanel knows that Paulina and her husband Abe Carver (James Reynolds) could face trouble with their political careers because of the fallout from her arrest. Chanel is worried about her girlfriend Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold). Chanel knows that Johnny would want to help her deal with her fears for Allie. Johnny cares about Allie because she is his twin sister. Chanel may be concerned that she and Allie will have trouble with their business Sweet Bits. Chanel may need Johnny to help her and Allie to keep their business from suffering because of her legal troubles.

Johnny was shocked when he found out that Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) had kidnapped Susan to get revenge on his father EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel). Ava knew that EJ would be devastated to lose Susan. Johnny had wanted to help Ava because she had been grieving the loss of her fiancé Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash).

Johnny feels regret that he wanted to help Ava because she killed Susan. Johnny had been upset with EJ because he found out that EJ has conspired with Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) against his uncle Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). Johnny confronted EJ with the truth. EJ has asked Johnny to keep the secret that he helped Li with his plans to manipulate Stefan. Johnny knows that keeping secrets can destroy lives. Johnny may find that helping Chanel can give him the insight that he needs to sort out the problems he is having with EJ.
