‘Days Of Our Lives’ Star John Aniston Wins Daytime Emmys Award

The Daytime Emmys has become known for honoring the best of daytime TV shows. And for “Days Of Our Lives” star John Aniston, the 2022 event turned into a ceremony to remember for two reasons. First, John won a very special award. And second, his daughter Jennifer Aniston showed her love in a moving speech.

But organizers succeeded in turning the actress’ appearance into a surprise that highlighted the awards, noted EW. As a result of his years on “Days Of Our Lives,” John took home the 2022 Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award. And his co-star Suzanne Rogers (Maggie Kiriakis) introduced the actor who had portrayed Victor Kiriakis for decades.

But the real highlight came when John’s daughter Jennifer Aniston made a virtual appearance. “This is truly a special moment for me,” gushed Jennifer. And she reflected on why she felt the moment seemed so memorable. “It’s an opportunity to not only pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but it’s also a chance to recognize the lifelong achievements of a great and well-respected actor.” And she showed her humor in adding, “He who also happens to be my dad.”

Jennifer Aniston Reflects On Her ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Dad

Since debuting on “Days Of Our Lives” in 1970, John has devoted his career to the soap opera. And his daughter, 53, pointed out the significance. “For over 30 years, his dedication to that show has gained him respect and admiration of his fellow actors, deep friendships, and thrilled millions of fans around the world,” stated Jennifer. “His career is literally the definition of lifetime achievement.” 

Aniston’s father could not appear in person at the ceremony. However, audience members at the Pasadena Civic Center gave him a standing ovation after Jennifer honored him. And the tribute also included a video montage showcasing all of John’s contributions to “Days Of Our Lives.”

In addition to John Aniston, the Daytime Emmys ceremony honored “General Hospital” with 17 nominations and five wins. Country music star Kelly Clarkson won two awards for her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Kelly took home the awards for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. And “The Young and the Restless” star Mishael Morgan became the first Black actress to win a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress.
