Why Days of Our Lives’ Latest MarDevil Possession Is True Genius

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal things getting more spooky and precarious in Salem as The Devil continues to carry out nefarious acts via Dr. Marlena Evans and Johnny DiMera tries to make a movie about the last time The Devil made her do it back in 1995.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Revisiting Days of Salem Past

Things are about to get weirder in Salem than they already are. MarDevil 2021 seems to be alive and well, knocking Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) over the head, blaming poor Doug Williams (Bill Hayes), and soon advising Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) that his child would probably be a serial killer just like him. If Marlena (Deidre Hall) says it, then it must be true and that’s going to cause a lot of trouble for Ben and Ciara (Victoria Konefal) and she hopes to start having Ben’s babies.

But things will get even weirder when Johnny (Carson Boatman) starts filming his movie based on this most unusual time in his family’s life, with Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) playing MarDevil 1995.

Two MarDevils For The Price Of One

Taking a character who was just a small child at the time and making her play this iconic character she has known all her life during the time she was possessed by The Devil (the first time) can only lead to pure entertainment, pure camp, and twists and turns that we can’t wait to see. Word has it Abigail will even re-enact some possession scenes from all those years ago word for word, juxtaposed with what we actually saw on screen back then.

When we first learned DOOL was going to revisit the Marlena possession story we wondered what they could do that wasn’t already done back then and now we realize the answer is a lot. Making a movie within a soap opera is the perfect way to remind fans about a story from decades ago while drawing in new fans and showing them what they missed.

We can’t wait to see who else Johnny casts in his movie as the key players. Who will play Father John Black (Drake Hogestyn)? Who will play Kristen DiMera, who had a key part in all of this? As Johnny’s movie gets cast, all we can see is a soap opera love story with a very supernatural twist getting told in a very 21st century way and we are here for it.
