Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) surprises Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) with a sapling. The two plant it and the goal is for the sapling to grow and one day, the couple will carve their initials into the tree. Some viewers who weren’t watching in the 90s might not understand the significance and why the sapling means so much to Chloe.

Philip Kiriakis’ Sapling Offering

DOOL spoilers reveal that Philip takes Chloe on a picnic and brings a tree sapling with him. Philip explains that they can plant it together while they’re on their picnic. When the sapling begins to grow into an actual tree, then they can carve their initials in the bark. This sapling is actually to replace the tree that Philip cut down that had their initials carved in it. However, it also symbolizes the future of the couple.

Philip and Chloe began dating in high school, but it wasn’t love at first sight. At that time, Chloe was known as “Ghoul Girl” and she wore her hair covering half her face along with an oversized black cloak. It wasn’t until she “shed” the cloak at the Last Blast Dance to show her true beauty that Philip really “saw” Chloe.

When the two were dating and in love, Philip and Chloe carved their initials in a tree. However, Philip would end up cutting it down in a fit of rage.

What Sapling Means to Chloe Lane

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that the sapling means so much to Chloe that she’s actually given new hope. The actress told Soap Opera Digest that Chloe believes it’s Philip’s way of saying he will get over the jealousy. Philip is also sending the message that he wants them to start over.

“It’s a symbol of his love and affection and saying, ‘We’re in this for the long haul.’ He explains that they can watch it grow for years and how he can’t wait for them to finally be able to carve their initials in it. Chloe is thrilled, like, ‘Hopefully, we’re past all of this.’ Instead of focusing on the negative, they’re going to focus on the good stuff and make good memories.”

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: New Beginning

Chloe believes that this truly is a new beginning for her relationship with Philip. She was starting to lose hope. So, Philip’s gesture really comes just in time. Chloe was and still is committed to Philip, but she was getting fed up with the jealous rages. Bjorlin adds,

“It’s the beginning of something beautiful, hopefully.”
