In “Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem,” producers took a risk. Could the limited series spin-off from the original Days Of Our Lives attract current viewers while intriguing new ones?

Add in the fact that “Beyond Salem” aired on the fledgling Peacock streaming service, and the risk increased.

But by bringing back well-known cast from the past and crafting a clever plot, producers found that risk paid off!

Now two of those famous stars, Lisa Rinna and Eileen Davidson, take us behind the scenes of making “Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.”

Real Housewives Reunite To Travel ‘Beyond Salem’

When actresses Lisa Rinna and Eileen Davidson met up to work on “Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem,” the ladies did more than just rehearse.

Rinna and Davidson first staged a mini “Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” (RHOBH) reunion.

And that reunion led to Lisa and Eileen persuading the writers to change the script.

Participating in a web video series about the Days Of Our Lives spin-off,  Rinna and Davidson recalled how a very argumentative Real Housewives dinner scene traveled “Beyond Salem.”

But as fans of both RHOBH and the DOOL spin-off may have noticed, the soap opera version of that dinner offered much more humor than the hell of that Real Housewives meal!

“If you can’t laugh at yourself, it’s a sad day,” Lisa pointed out.

And by reinventing that real-life Real Housewives dinner and turning it into a battle between Rinna’s Billie Reed and Eileen Davidson’s Kristen DiMera, the actresses succeeded in sharing that laughter with viewers.

How Eileen Davidson And Lisa Rinna Rewrote DOOL Spin-Off Script!

When Lisa Rinna and Eileen Davidson first received the “Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem” script, however, the stars noted two lines missing.

“The very first script I got with it, they didn’t have the two famous lines,” Davidson explained.

As a result of that omission, Eileen and Lisa Rinna united to protest.

“Lisa and I were like, ‘Wait, what? If you’re gonna go there, you gotta go there,'” Davidson recalled.

Those two missing lines, for those who missed the original Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills dinner from hell scene, involved Eileen facing criticism of acting like a “beast.”

To that slam, Eileen responded, “How dare you?!”

And Davidson even added in a memorable scene.

“The line was there, but I took it upon myself to throw [the bread] at [Rinna’s] face,” confessed Eileen. “Why not?”

Eileen Davidson Puts Teeth Into DOOL Spin-Off!

The former Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star also discussed returning to transform herself into a nun.

Eileen Davidson shifted into a nun’s habit when DiMera posed as Sister Mary Moira Banks.

But Davidson impacted that character as well.

“They wanted to give me new teeth,” recalled the RHOBH alum. “They go, ‘Can you come in for a new teeth fitting?’ And I was like, ‘I have my old teeth, I don’t need new ones.’ The guy that made Austin Powers’ teeth made my teeth all those years ago.”

And while Lisa Rinna didn’t need to worry about fake teeth or nun habits, she did face the challenge of a complicated dance scene.

That delicate tango performed by Rinna and actor Peter Porte flashed back to Lisa’s experience on season 2 of Dancing With the Stars.

“Well, it’s been about 14 years since Dancing With the Stars,” admitted Rinna.

However, Lisa did get a leg up from her former DWTS partner Louis Van Amstel. He assisted by choreographing her DOOL dance.

“I don’t know how we did it,” she confessed. “Monday we rehearsed for two hours, learned the Tango, Wednesday we filmed it, and I still don’t know how we did it, but it was sure fun!”
