Why Amy Roloff’s Dad May Not Be Present during Her and Chris Marek’s Wedding
Amy Roloff has just announced one part of her wedding that won’t go according to plan, and it’s sad, though the always optimistic Amy has already found a way to make the best of it.
The Little People, Big World’s star will marry Chris Marek at Roloff farms.
Amy Roloff Announces that Her Dad Has Been Ailing
For most brides, there’s usually nothing like being walked to the altar to marry your “dearly beloved” one with your father by your side, but Amy is thinking that her dad may not make it to her wedding due to his recent health issues.
“My Dad. He’s 92. He’s been in the hospital for the last two weeks,” Roloff wrote on her Instagram account on Tuesday. “Not sure if he’ll make it to our wedding. I’m glad he’s now getting better/stronger. But God knows and so I keep giving it up to Him.”
Though this is truly sad indeed, the 56-year-old soon decided to make light of things by finding something positive to look forward to. “I’m just so happy I’ll get to see him again in Michigan… at least. Love my father.”
Amy Roloff’s Wedding Countdown
Amy is ordering “all hands on deck” as her wedding approaches, and while she’s as excited for her big day as any bride could hope to be, she also wants August 28, her and Marek’s wedding day, to be perfect.
On Monday, Amy celebrated her bridal shower with close friends and family.
“I’m blessed and thankful once again with very good friends, my daughter-in-laws and Lisa and Debi,” she wrote alongside a carousel of photos from the gathering. The snaps featured her, her close relatives and friends, and Marek too, but only as a cardboard cutout. “Had a good time at the bridal shower Lisa and Debi [gave] to me.”
Speaking about the gifts she received at the event, she added, “some of the gifts will definitely add a little spice, if you know what I mean, and inspire me in the kitchen.”
The couple originally met in 2016 at a singles mixer and became engaged in 2019.
Though Amy initially intended the Roloff farm, which is now solely owned by her ex-husband Matt Roloff, to be her plan B for the wedding venue, several advantages made it stand out as the right place to hold the wedding.
“This was hard, but the farm has beautiful scenery and we just don’t know what’s going to happen with COVID, so it’s easier to have it there,” Roloff said on the June episode of their reality show “Little People, Big World”, noting that “other places just kind of eroded away and plan B became plan A.”
Amy and Matt, 59, finalized their divorce in 2016 after 30 years of marriage. They share twins, Jeremy and Zach, 31, daughter Molly, 29, and son Jacob, 24.
Matt is overlooking the construction of the venue even though he and girlfriend Caryn Chandler won’t be attending the wedding.
