Royal Family News: Mike Tindall Believes That Prince Philip Would Have Liked His Funeral
British Royal Family news reveals Mike Tindall attended the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh’s Funeral with his wife Zara Tindall and loved how “perfect” the arrangements for the funeral were.
Mike Tindall Reveals That His Love for the Queen Has Grown
On April 17, the former rugby player turned sports talk show host, accompanied his wife Zara Tindall, The Queen’s granddaughter, to Prince Philip’s funeral at St. George’s Chapel.
“It’s been a difficult ten days,” Mike said on the latest episode of his podcast, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby. “If I look back on the day, as eerie as it was with no crowds and social distancing, and the way everything was, I think it was the perfect day, how he would have liked it, if that makes sense whatsoever. No fuss, get on with it.”
As a result of the ongoing pandemic and safety rules in place, only 30 people were allowed to attend the late Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral. Everyone in attendance was socially distanced and also wore black face masks.
“My love for the Queen was even better,” Mike noted. “She sat there completely on her own, separated herself in terms of, this is what the world is right now and I’m gonna lead by example. And she’s amazing, literally amazing.”
Mike, who shares three children with the late Prince Philip’s granddaughter Zara, continued: “It could have been his hat on his carriage that he rides, his gloves, or the hat on his coffin and the sword, the bugle, the piper, there were a lot of things that brought home memories,” he said. “It was a sad day, but I think it was very well-run. He was very well looked after and hopefully he’s looking down and he was happy with the day.”
He said that he rather liked the day despite coronavirus shifting the original plans for the funeral from the planned 800 people to 30 people who got to be in attendance at the event.
Mike Tindall Shares Moments of Prince Philip With His Daughter
At the time of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death, Mike shared a picture of the late prince happily sharing a snack with his great-granddaughter Mia (the eldest child of both Zara and Mike Tindall) on the porch of a log cabin.
He captioned the picture with an emotional sweet little message: “It’s been a very sad week but it has given us time to reflect on great memories and stories both personal and shared. A devoted family man who we will forever miss but always love.”
