The reality television star explained why he doesn’t desire to be intimate with his first wife, Meri. It’s been no secret that Kody and Meri have had their fair share of marital problems, but according to Kody, things have become “extremely exploitive and abusive” in their relationship so much so that he doesn’t want much to do with her anymore. This all happened after it was revealed that Meri was catfished online. Even though Meri sought therapy to deal with their issues, Kody said that he no longer wanted to be intimate with her.

“About five years ago, Meri and I were in a bad place,” he explained to People Magazine in a new interview. “She basically asked me to stop staying at her house and ultimately what happened is she went through an experience where she was catfished by a person pretending to be somebody else.”

If that weren’t enough, Meri said in a recent interview that during the time of the scandal, Kody was more distant than she wanted him to be. Unfortunately, they’ve never managed to work through their issues.

“At night, I just wanted him to put his arm around me,” she said. “And I couldn’t sleep because of this outside situation. And I did not manage the situation well. I said to him, ‘Can you just not stay here for a while? Can we just take a break for a minute?’ He took it as, ‘Go away and don’t ever come back,’ because that’s what he’s done. And that’s not what I meant.”
