Prince Philip Recovering From Heart Surgery While CBS Moves Full Speed Ahead With Oprah Interview

While initial reports indicated that Prince Philip was hospitalized because of an infection that was thankfully not Covid-19 related, it turned out that Queen Elizabeth’s husband also needed surgery for his preexisting heart condition. On Thursday, Buckingham Palace released a statement to the press that said everything so far is looking good.

“The Duke of Edinburgh yesterday underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital,” the palace said, using Philip’s formal title.

“His Royal Highness will remain in hospital for treatment, rest and recuperation for a number of days,” the statement said.

And while Prince Philip is safe and sound and resting, the rest of the royal family perhaps isn’t. Even though there were some critics who suggested that CBS should postpone Harry and Meghan’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, it looks like it’s going to happen on Sunday night, no matter what happens.

So far Buckingham Palace has not made any additional comments about Prince Philip’s health, nor does it look like his wife Queen Elizabeth will be visiting him at the hospital anytime soon.
