This Is Us season 5 spoilers reveal that before Kevin left for a work trip to Canada, he got into it with Madison (Caitlin Thompson). She clearly did not want him to go and he felt he had to for his career. In the end, he went and then got a call that Madison was in labor. She begged him to hurry up and come home. He wasn’t able to get on a flight, so he took a car and raced down the highway.

It’s all a result of him trying to be everything to everyone. You can’t be everywhere at once, but Kevin surely tries. It’s like Hartley said a few weeks ago, Kevin needs to realize that “there will be other movies.”

Looked Down For Just A Second

This Is Us season 5 spoilers reveal that in one promo clip, Kevin is speeding down the road. He swerved into the oncoming lane and nearly got struck by a vehicle. He got back into his lane and glances at his phone to make a call. He literally just looked down for a second, but that is all it takes for a life-changing event. Next thing you know, the screen turns black.

This Is Us Season 5 Spoilers: Horrific Car Crash

In the second promo clip, Kevin’s car is seen on the side of the road and you can see broken, white slabs of wood as if he crashed through a wooden fence. The car is pretty banged up, his lights are still on and both car doors are wide open. It appears that the car was actually on fire at one point, but there is no Kevin inside. The camera zooms out and all you see is Kevin’s driver’s license on the ground several feet away from the car.

Due to the fire being put out, both doors being open instead of just the driver’s side, and the location of his wallet, we are assuming that the EMT’s already took Kevin out of the car and to the hospital. The wallet probably fell out of his back pocket when they were loading him onto a stretcher.

Kevin Pearson’s Massive Guilt

This Is Us season 5 spoilers reveal that Kevin survives. We know this because he appears in flash-forwards. However, the show is famous for all storylines bringing tears to your eyes. Each character also has several life lessons to learn. For Kevin, it’s really about picking one thing or another. He can’t continue trying to be in two places at once. He can’t keep saying yes to everyone and everything. He also needs to take his time. Even though he was in a hurry to get to Madison, lives should never be put at risk. The saying, “I would rather you get here late than never at all” applies to Kevin’s story.

As for the tearjerker part of this storyline? There is a good chance that the other driver ends up dying in the accident. It appears that the accident is Kevin’s fault and he will have enormous guilt over that. So, dealing with his career, navigating the “instant family” with Madison, adjusting to being the new father of twins, and recovering from any injuries are a lot already. Then you add him being told the other driver died and he’s at fault. That will weigh so heavily on him.

Perhaps this is where Kevin and Madison really connect. She might be the person to help him through this. What do you think? Remember, this episode will finally air on February 9, 2021, on NBC.
