About V.C. Andrews

Even though a ghostwriter took over Andrews’ writing after her death, the original author has a fascinating story. Back when she first began writing, she used the initials V.C. instead of her first name for a reason. Back then, it was difficult for women writers to be widely read but less respected as “real writers.” So, without telling a lie, the initials simply gave the impression that she might be male and encourage people to read her books. Many female writers had to do this during the times when women were not considered equal to men.

I might be wrong about this, but I seem to remember the story going that the truth about her gender wasn’t revealed until after her death. She was a hugely popular novelist and her books were hard to put down. In fact, as a teenager, I read every single one of her books before the ghostwriter took over. She was – and still is – my favorite author.

V.C. Andrews Movies On Lifetime

The movies are based on the books “Ruby,” “Pearl in the Mist,” “All That Glitters,” and “Hidden Jewel.” The book that famously started off the franchise was “Flowers in the Attic.” The movies will premiere in March 2021 on Lifetime.

“I’m so #happy I can finally share this with #you all #Lifetime #VCAndrews see #you also in #March. I hear there’s a #storm #coming!”
