Deadliest Catch Nick McGlashan Dead at Age 33
Deadliest Catch news reveals that Nick McGlashan has died according to TMZ. Nick was a 7th generation fisherman who starred in the reality series Deadliest Catch which chronicles the lives of crews working on fishing vessels in the Bering Sea.
TMZ is reporting that they have learned from the Medical Examiner and Nick’s family that the reality star passed away Sunday in Nashville and that the cause of death has not been determined.

Nick appeared in nearly 80 episodes during his time on the Discovery channel show which ranged from 2013 to 2020. Nick began in the family business, crabbing, at age 13. The story of Nick’s family in the commercial fishing industry is legendary. His great uncle worked on the first boat in the U.S. crab industry and two of his aunts were crabbers. One of his aunts tragically died at sea after the boat she was on sank.

Fans watched as Nick piloted the Cape Caution and eventually went on to the Summer Bay. He has been described as a determined and dedicated professional who never let pain or anything else stand in his way. Even when his boat had dangerous mechanical problems Nick was one to soldier through.
According to TMZ he struggled for years with addiction to alcohol and drugs. His addiction was so bad at one point that he was suspended from part of Season 13 and eventually entered rehab.

The outlet reported that Nick himself admitted to drinking a half-gallon of vodka a day at the same time shooting up one gram of meth and 2 grams of heroin all in 24 hours.
He had gone on the record to say that he took his sobriety seriously and tried hard to stay clean. At the same time Nick stated that he was doing his best to inspire others to get sober.
Deadliest Catch News: The Reality Show Family Has Suffered a Loss
Nick is not the only reality series star to have died tragically, deckhand Mahlon Reyes died in August after suffering a heart attack.
Discovery released this statement to CNN: “Our deepest sympathy goes out to Nick’s loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement read. “Nick came from a long line of crabbers and was known for his great depth of knowledge. He also had a sharp sense of humor even in the most difficult conditions. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.”
