Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers for 2021 reveal that the new year is going to start off with a bang. We are finally going to learn why Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) hates the Deveraux family so much.

The soap opera usually does a huge bombshell at the Days of Our Lives New Year’s Eve party, so don’t expect that pattern to change. It is teased that there will be huge consequences for two families.

DOOL spoilers confirm that head writer Ron Carlivati spoke to Soap Opera Digest about Gwen. Everyone wants to know what her beef is with the Deveraux family. Even though her schemes affect all of them, most of Gwen’s hatred seems to be directed at Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller). I mean, if you are going to literally melt someone’s brain, then that’s some deep-rooted rage.

The Days of Our Lives head writer told the magazine that Gwen’s motivations will be unveiled right after New Year’s.But that’s not the end of the story and it seems Gwen continues causing problems. Carlivati said that there will be catastrophic consequences.

DOOL Spoilers: Hate Goes Back Years

Gwen has obviously been stalking the Deveraux family for a very long time. We did see a few Days of Our Lives flashbacks from before she officially arrived in Salem. She was watching the family at least a year ago and maybe even longer. Recently, O’Brien talked about the storyline with SOD and made a statement that confirms the hatred goes back years. The actress stated that Gwen has been waiting so long “for this.” We are wondering just how far back this offense was committed.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Gwen has issues with Abigail and the Deveraux family, but not Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). In fact, O’Brien explained that Gwen really likes Chad. He helped her a lot by giving her a job, letting her move in and allowing her to stay after the split from Jake Lambert DiMera (Brandon Barash). Her next move to destroy “Chabby” will devastate Chad and she feels bad about that. But her hatred weighs more than her guilt.

Carlivati also said that there is another chapter to Gwen’s story. It should be interesting to find out exactly why she’s so angry.

“So, coming off what happens on New Year’s, we will find out exactly what that is, and it will not only have big consequences for Chad and Abigail’s family, but for the whole Deveraux family. And then, of course, the next chapter grows from there.”

A popular Days of Our Lives spoilers theory is that Gwen and Abigail are half-sisters, but that’s a lot of hate and planning just for a simple paternity story. There must be something more to it and we can’t wait to find out what it is.
