Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Galen Gering Told Things Changed, Why He Agreed To Return
NBC Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Galen Gering was one of many actors who made their exit from the NBC soap opera earlier this year. Gering confirmed that he actually left the soap in February 2020, although we didn’t hear about it until summer. He got the call to return during the lockdown and was told that there were changes happening. Keep reading to find out more.
Birthday Was Last Day On Set
DOOL spoilers reveal that Gering talked about his character, Rafe Hernandez with Soap Opera Digest. He also talked about him being away from the set a lot longer than viewers think. Even though all the exits seemed to have been announced around the same time, he actually hadn’t been on set since February 2020. In fact, his last day was on his birthday, February 13.
DOOL Spoilers: Wasn’t Sure He’s Come Back
After 11 years, Gering decided to focus on other projects and he did work on a few things. Then COVID-19 hit and a lockdown was ordered. The actor explained that he was always given the advice to have plenty of savings just in case. The stay-at-home order proved that advice to be very wise. He’s glad that he had money socked away because the lockdown was for nearly five months… much longer than anyone had anticipated.
Lockdown And The Call
Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that it was during the stay-at-home order when Gering got the call for him to come back. He believes that when they called, production had shut down not long before that. So, while he’s been gone from the set for nearly a year, viewers have only seen him gone on-screen for about two months.
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Changes Afoot
Gering explained to the magazine that when he was asked to come back, he was promised changes to Rafe’s storyline direction. He said,
“I was certainly happy and excited to hear that they wanted me to come back to Days and that there were going to be changes afoot with regard to my storyline, so here we are.”
Obviously, the changes they were referring to was Hope Brady no longer being Salem as actress Kristian Alfonso suddenly quit and never came back to film her exit scenes. So, that meant an off-screen exit had to be created and Rafe wasn’t going to return to Salem and rekindle his romance with Hope.
However, viewers are convinced that there might have been a reason why Gering left in the first place. Other actors expressed that they weren’t listened to and nobody was sure if Days was going to continue because the renewal talks were simply taking too long. While Gering didn’t say anything like this during his interview, it is always a possibility.
