Discovery Channel has released an official synopsis for Season 16 Episode 23: “The Cornelia crew fights to save their gear from sea ice. Jake risks the far north to fill his tanks before his son’s birth. Amid news of a looming pandemic, Russian boats mysteriously disappear and captains race to dock before crab prices crash.”

The final episodes of Deadliest Catch Season 16 were filmed in the very beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. So, Discovery Channel fans will see the fishermen getting word from land about the massive outbreak and economical uncertainties.
With all of the travel bans and shutdowns, captains will race to land to try and sell the crab that they have caught already before the market crashes or they are unable to make it home. Our favorite fishermen will know something is up when Russia’s boats begin making a run for land, and ships begin heading home way before they normally would.
