Doubling Down With the Derricos News: Baby Dawsyn Back In Hospital – Karen Derrico Devastated

Doubling Down With the Derricos spoilers reveal the heartbreaking news that the Derrico family has had a setback.

More specifically, mom, Karen Derrico, has shared that she felt “stupid” after her and husband Deon’s 14th baby, daughter Dawsyn Derrico, was hospitalized shortly after giving birth. Her admission comes on Tuesday, September 1, episode obtained by Us Weekly.

As Karen explained, “Having to put her back when we just got her home was not something I had planned on doing, but it was definitely a necessity at this point in order for her to thrive. The doctors thanked me for letting her back and let me know it’s OK.”

Doubling Down With The Derricos: Baby Dawsyn’s Medical Problems

Karen and Deon Derrico had triplets Dawsyn, De’Aren, and Dyver in July. However, after their premature delivery, the family was stunned to hear that Dawsyn was born with a hole in her heart.

The precious newborn stayed at the hospital and had multiple operations. Eventually siblings De’Aren and Dyver went home and while Dawsyn did finally go home, she was readmitted again due to health concerns.

Mom, Karen Derrico says of herself, “I feel like I’m being looked upon like, ‘Girl, you’ve got 14 children, you should have this,’ and it’s like, ‘I don’t.’”

Karen Derrico was sad beyond measure that she had to take Dawsyn back to the hospital.  She continued, “I’m looking at her and she’s looking at me like I’m all she has and it’s like, what do you do? I have to go through that and then leave her in there to come back home. It’s like this weak mode.”

The entire Doubling Down With The Derricos episode is very emotional as the rest of the Derrico family tried to help Karen as she wept about her baby. One son wiped away her tears and one daughter stroked her back.

Deon said this to his wife: “It’s very emotional, and you have done — and are continuing to do — an exceptional job. I’m not saying that because you’re my wife or the mother of my children.”

Ultimately the parents taught their kids that, “it’s OK that it’s not OK” as they got through the situation together. Karen said, “That’s important for the boys to see as strong as Papi is, he’s crying, and the girls to see, as strong as Mommy is, Mommy’s crying. There are some things you just can’t put a Band-Aid on, and I want them to know at an early age that this is how you deal with stuff. You talk about it.”
