Big Brother 22 Spoilers: BB22 Affected By Surge In COVID-19 Cases – Summer 2020 Season In Jeopardy?
Big Brother 22 spoilers say BB22 could be affected by the skyrocketing COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles county. According to Jim Heath TV, CBS is taking a close look at those numbers before they decide to go ahead with plans for BB22.
The last thing they want is anyone to get infected because as everyone knows, if one person has it (including asymptomatic contestants), then it will spread to the cast and crew like wildfire.
Big Brother Spoilers Updates: Nearly 4,000 Deaths In Los Angeles County
Right now, Los Angeles County health officials have updated the numbers of COVID-19 with 3,322 new cases. There were also 18 more deaths, bringing the fatality total up to 3,809. The county already has nearly 134,000 cases and almost 2,100 are currently admitted to the hospital. 26 percent are in the ICU and 19 percent on ventilators.
Due to the numbers being much higher than one month ago, Big Brother wants to be careful about not going forward too quickly.
BB22 Spoilers: Summer 2020 Season At Risk
Due to Big Brother being a reality show, the risk is high of someone coming in with the illness. Even though quarantining, testing, and temperature checks are a good safeguard, those methods do not catch 100 percent of all cases before it is spread to others. Corrine Kaplan, a former Survivor contestant told Yahoo a different theory,
“Big Brother has to be one of the easiest [shows to produce now] because it is so contained. The issue becomes when the contestants are taken out and about. So, for example, those dates you see on The Bachelor, they would have to figure out how to film those and disinfect those locations.”
Will Big Brother Still Air In 2020?
Due to the rising cases and there being so much uncertainly about COVID-19, both Big Brother and Love Island are at risk. While they could be shelved for a later time, it was recently stated by Kelly Kahl, president of CBS that the outlook was good. But that was before the skyrocketing cases.
“With Love Island and Big Brother, we still hope to have on the air this summer, it could be a little later than usual but we’re still optimistic about getting those on. Those shows turn around pretty quickly, Big Brother has live shows every week and Love Island literally airs the night after it shoots, those shows do not have long post processes.”
‘I Just Don’t See It Happening’
However, a former BB cast member told Jim Heath TV that they just don’t see it happening. They feel that there is just too much risk in cast and or crew getting sick, then having to shut down production smack in the middle of season 22.
