Sister Wives Lawsuit Updates: Kody Brown To Pay $30K, Car Crash Due To ‘Inexperienced Driver’
Sister Wives star Kody Brown has been ordered to pay $30,000. The lawsuit stems from Paedon Brown’s car accident in 2017. The plaintiffs blame the reality star for allowing an “inexperienced driver” behind the wheel. The court ruled against the polygamist patriarch, which only increases the family’s financial distress. Sister Wives Spoilers: Paedon Brown’s Car Accident
In October 2017, Paedon was a teenager and like most his age, was just starting to drive. However, Kody’s son rear-ended Stefannie Gonzales and Mirella Flores,, which had stopped for an emergency vehicle. They allege the teenager was following too closely and crashed into them. It caused the car to push forward and as a result, they rear-ended the vehicle in front of them.

In December 2018, Gonzales and Flores filed a lawsuit and the case was resolved in arbitration on May 27, 2020. According to The Sun, court documents show the plaintiffs asked for $15,000 in bodily and property damage. In the complaint, the plaintiffs wrote,
“As a direct and proximate result of the collision, Plaintiffs have been limited in the recreational, household, and vocational activities they can perform, which, in turn, have caused them pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, physical impairment, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life in a presently unascertainable amount.”
TLC Sister Wives Spoilers 2020: Why Is Kody Brown At Fault?
Even though the Sister Wives star was not present at the time of the accident, the car Paedon was driving belonged to the patriarch. Gonzales and Flores claim that Kody was jointly and severally liable. The plaintiffs reasoned that Kody allowed an inexperienced or incompetent person to operate the motor vehicle.
TLC Sister Wives Cast ‘Drowning Financially’
Kody has four wives and 18 children. The polygamist family does not live in one home, though. Each wife has their own residence and they are paying mortgages on all of the properties. Plus, they purchased land in Coyote Pass with the intention of building on it, which hasn’t happened yet. It is estimated that the homes and land all put together are around $820,000.
Kody and Robyn asked for a home equity line of credit in the amount of $150,000 earlier this year. It was reportedly approved, but that is just one more financial obligation added to their already overflowing pile of debt.
The Sister Wives cast members say they are drowning financially. Christine Brown recently begged for donations to go toward her daughter’s surgery. The medical procedure costs $50,000. She has come up with half of that amount from her Lularoe clothing sales.
