The Real Reason Meghan Markle Ditched the U.S. President’s State Visit to the U.K?

royal family meghan markle, prince harryWas the fact that Meghan Markle chose to stay away from the state banquet at Buckingham Palace during President Trump’s visit to the U.K. personal or was there another reason for her absence? Many people know that Meghan Markle is something of a firebrand who has chosen to speak her mind freely on many different social issues. It’s also well known that Meghan did not support Mr. Trump’s bid for the presidency of the United States of America in 2016. Of course, this led many to assume Meghan can’t stand President Trump and therefore chose to boycott his arrival in England.

According to reports, however, some believe that personal feelings didn’t enter Meghan’s mind when she made her choice to stay home. After all, Meghan was on maternity leave during Trump’s visit. Others say that this is complete rubbish though because Meghan did choose to attend Trooping the Colour. (For those who don’t know, Trooping the Colour is a 260 year old tradition that marks the birthday of Britain’s current monarch, such as Queen Elizabeth II.)

Was Meghan Markle Required To Meet Trump?

In an interview Sky News, one royal expert came to the Duchess of Sussex’s defense, pointing out that even though Meghan likely didn’t vote for President Trump, “There’s a fairly straightforward rule – family events are one thing, official engagements are another.” In other words, Meghan hauled herself, though she was on maternity leave over to the Queen’s birthday event because it was a family event (and would have been seen as beyond bad taste by the British masses if she had stayed home), while Trump’s visit was just business. Nevertheless, it seems President Trump may have taken offense.

In fact, after Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, chose to step back from their royal duties and move forward with what has become termed, “Megxit,” President Trump has Tweeted at least one major Tweet concerning the couple. As fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex know, Meghan and Harry ditched the Firm and moved to Vancouver Island in Canada. Following a short time there, Harry and Meghan moved to the Los Angeles area in the USA. However, once they got there Meghan and Harry discovered their security needs had increased.

President Trump Tweeted that, “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S., however the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

Royal Family News – Trump Refused To Pay For Meghan’s Security

Meghan and Harry quickly made clear that “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.” Truth be told, many in the U.K. have lost interest in supporting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, so it’s hardly a surprise that President Trump and the American people have no desire to foot their security bill either.

In any case, Meghan’s penchant for running with the sentiments of those who are not “traditionalists” may put the lie to the assertion that her choice to stay away from Trump’s U.K. banquet was simply due to maternity leave. A case in point is the fact that recent reports indicate Meghan has actually ditched a close friend she’s known for years and whom she’s said is not a racist, because of “perception.”

Meghan presumably stands for social issues, women’s issues, civil rights … but some just think that whether it’s Trump, Black Lives Matter, or her close friend, Jessica Mulroney, Meghan’s an attention seeking individual who uses current politics and public opinion to create new public relations opportunities for herself.

The bottom line? Meghan’s willing to throw anyone, even dear friends, under the bus if it interferes with her own (supposedly) precious image. Some believe, that when it comes to Meghan Markle … there’s no such thing as bad press.
