British chef Carolyn Robb worked at Kensington Palace for over two decades which means she has a few inside tales to tell when it comes to the royal family’s gastronomic indulgences. According to her, Kate Middleton is quite a good home chef and loves to cook for her family, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Speaking to Racked in 2015, Robb spilled a few delicious details about the princess noting, “Kate does quite a lot of the cooking at the moment. You have to remember that she’s not royal. She comes from a normal background and a normal home where she has always cooked for herself.”

While at a Canadian wine and food festival a few years back Kate revealed she also makes the occasional curry.
At the same festival Prince William tried Indian cuisine from Chef Vikram Vij and said, “This is amazing. It’s the right level of spice for me. I’m very glad you did not surprise us with a vindaloo. I can’t manage that – it’s too much for me.”
Along with her love of Indian food, Kate is known to make chutney, a condiment served alongside Indian food. In fact she sometimes uses a handed-down recipe for the condiment which her grandmother gave her.
One time Kate was at a loss for what present to give the queen so she, “decided to make my granny’s recipe of chutney.”
Luckily Kate saw the gift on the queen’s table later, a sure sign that the gift was a hit!
