Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that when Abby hallucinated first at home, when she thought her husband Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) was Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) coming at her to strangle her with a necktie.

Later in Salem University Hospital when she saw bombs strapped to her mother, Jennifer Deveraux, (Melissa Reeves) all eyes immediately turned to Days of Our Lives cast’s Gabi as the person of interest, since she had motive, means and opportunity.

Days of Our Lives Recap – Who Drugged Abigail DiMera?

The drugs were found to be experimental and manufactured by a DiMera owned pharmaceutical company, and Detective Lani Price (Sal Stowers) made note of that to Gabi when she questioned her. But why is Abigail still hallucinating when repeat testing showed the drug should no longer be in her system? Could she be developing a separate mental illness than her dissociative identity disorder, such as post-traumatic stress disorder?

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is well known for creating flashbacks of traumatic real events that have happened to a person, and all of Abigail’s hallucinations have been of past traumatic events that she had really lived through.

Abigail DiMera Has Another Scary Hallucination – Days of Our Lives Spoilers In Two Weeks

Since Abigail’s previous hallucinations were more like flashbacks, it is likely that this one will be also. But further testing shows the drug is out of her system – why another hallucination? Now Dr. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) and Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) discuss the ramifications of Abigail continuing to hallucinate after the hallucinogenic drug is out of her system.

They know that certain psychotropic drugs, such as LSD, can affect the brain long after the drug itself is out of the body, due to changes it makes to the brain, and they suspect that this new drug may be of the same type and makes changes to the brain that may be long-lasting and cause poor Abigail to suffer with hallucinations much longer. Unfortunately, Abby may have a long journey to healing!
