Amara La Negra and Shay Johnson are friends. They were friends long before Amara began dating Shay’s brother and they should have put their friendship first. However, life is never that easy. They were friends until Amara’s relationship with Emjay got in the way.
Emjay was a bum who couldn’t support himself and he relied on Amara to pay his bills. Amara was fine with that in the beginning. She thought she was just supporting him through the bad times and she only realized later one that there has been nothing but bad times.

Emjay used her to support himself. Amara realized this and she ended the relationship. She thought she could still be friends with Emjay’s sister afterwards, but it doesn’t look like that will be the case.
Shay is sticking by her brother. She’s refusing to acknowledge he’s a user and she’s lashing out at Amara for believing in other people over her brother. It didn’t matter that what Emjay’s ex had said had resonated with Amara. Or that Amara was hurting just as much as Emjay was “supposedly” feeling.
Love and Hip Hop Miami – Shay Chooses Sides, And Not Amara’s!
It hadn’t been an easy decision to end the relationship. Amara had needed her friends to support her so that she could lean on them and instead Shay was giving her attitude. Shay came for her on “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” and told Amara how wrong she was for dumping Emjay. She also told Emjay where they were going and so he stopped by as a surprise for Amara.
Emjay came with roses and he regular smooth self, but as her friend, Shay should never have told him where Amara was and they shouldn’t have joined up together to ambush her.
