How Much Are The Original Friends Cast Getting Paid For The HBO Max Special?

Friends has a very dedicated fanbase. Their fandom is so strong that viewers have tried their hardest to keep the show relevant to this day. People obsessively streamed the series when it was available on Netflix. However, the sitcom left the streaming platform for another platform – HBO Max.

Friends Has A Very Dedicated Fanbase

Before streaming was even heard of, fans would purchase the DVD sets. Now, fans are waiting anxiously for more details about the unscripted reunion that’s currently in the making. The original Friends cast is reuniting for a new special. How much are the original cast members making for the special? It’s rumored to be in the millions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max is paying a lot of money for the untitled project. The Friends cast members will make “more than double their former per-episode fee for the reunion and [will] be paid between $2.5 million and $3 million for the special.” The reunion will give fans some semblance of nostalgia.

The reunion special will be shot on Stage 24 of the Warner Brothers Studio lot, where the original series was filmed. It’s not clear whether this project will give the boost that HBO Max needs to attract subscribers to its streaming service. But it’ll definitely get Friends fans excited about this new project.

Announcement Was Made On February 21, 2020 About The Reboot

On February 21, the announcement was made. But rumors of a reboot have been swirling for years. When fans learned that their beloved show was no longer going to stream on Netflix, they learned that HBO paid $425 million to secure the rights to the series. But fans wanted to know when the episodes would be available on HBO’s new streaming platform. They also were concerned whether the company had the money and ability to make the reunion happen.

Now their fears have been quelled. All original six cast members have signed onto this project. HBO called the project an “unscripted cast reunion special,” which means that the project will just be an interview with the Friends cast members rather than a rebooted series. But it’ll be nice to see the old gang together again. What are your thoughts on the Friends reunion special? Sound off below in the comments section.
